Our mission at the Kingston West Veterinary Hospital, the Lennox & Addington Animal Hospital and the Limestone City Animal Hospital is to understand your pet needs and provide accurate guidance and advice. We can help you with numerous health concerns, as well as puppy and kitten advice, behavioural and dietary consults, and end of life discussions. We can also assist with determining the urgency of a situation and deciding whether your pet requires immediate care or whether you can wait to see your regular veterinarian, or alternatively provide some management at home.

MEET THE OWNERS OF THE UPPER CANADA VETERINARY GROUP...
Dr. Mark A. de Wolde, born in Kingston, graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1993 after which he received the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Award and the Hill’s Nutrition Award. A portion of Dr. de Wolde’s education was completed at Universiteit Utrecht in the Netherlands.
After spending six years in Greater Napanee, Dr. de Wolde spent some time practicing in Kingston Upon Thames in Surrey, England. In 2001, he returned to Southern Ontario and established both the Bath Village and Lennox & Addington Animal Hospitals. In 2004, Dr. de Wolde created a business relationship with long time friend, Dr. Jason Shepherd. Together they co-founded the Upper Canada Veterinary Group; an animal hospital management team. Subsequently in 2006, the Limestone City Animal Hospital was opened in beautiful downtown Kingston, followed by Kingston West Veterinary Hospital in 2016. Dr. de Wolde has special interests in orthopaedic & laser surgery.
Dr. de Wolde is the current President of the Upper Canada Veterinary Group, President of Lenio Pharmaceuticals and recent past President of the Kingston Regional Pet Hospital Corporation. He is a member in standing with Veterinary Study Groups. In 2018 Dr. de Wolde was honoured at the annual OVMA convention in Toronto with the prestigious Ontario Veterinary Medical Association Award of Merit.
Dr. de Wolde is married to his beautiful wife, Jessica; together they have two handsome little boys, Owen & Benjamin. The house is filled with their rescued Husky X named Porter, a purebred Whippet named Ivy and a rescued miniature Poodle named Persie. Outreach is very important to the de Wolde family. As avid contributors to World Vision, Lennox & Addington branch of the OSPCA, Kingston Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Kingston’s annual Paws for Hope Walkathon, Relay for Life, Night in Blue, Missionary Alliance and other local charities. Dr. de Wolde has been very active in the fitness community. He enjoys many activities outside of the home, including numerous sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball and golf), movies and experiencing great local cuisine.
Dr. Jason Shepherd was born in Clinton Creek, Yukon and moved to the Kingston – Napanee area from the Niagara region in 2004. He graduated from the University of Guelph with Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees in 1998. Prior to practicing in Eastern Ontario, he practiced in the Waterloo region and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Dr. de Wolde and Dr. Shepherd co-found the Upper Canada Veterinary Group network in 2005 and the Limestone City Animal Hospital in 2007 & Kingston West Veterinary Hospital in 2016. His special interests in Veterinary Medicine include diagnostic Ultrasonography, internal medicine and general surgery.
In 2011, Dr. Shepherd married his wife Lydia, and the two of them live happily out in the country with their three boys, Jack, Deacon & Remi, along with their four-legged kids, Timmy, Maverick, Charlie, Armani & Chanel.
Dr. Shepherd enjoys many extracurricular activities, including soccer and music. He is a talented musician who plays numerous instruments.
Like Dr. de Wolde, Dr. Shepherd supports numerous charities in the area, including the L&A OSPCA, Kingston Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Paws for Hope, Relay for Life, Night in Blue and the Missionary Alliance.
